Lot 381: Military interst. A Georgian silver oval drum teapot with straight spout, shaped ebony handle and ivory knop, the underside inscribed ''The gift of the Hon'ble Gen'l Murray (late Governor of Minorca) to Charlotte Knollis 13th. Dec. 1783'', William Vincent, London 1783. Wt.511gm. Historical Note. Minorca was besieged and captured by the French from the British under General Murray in 1782. He was subsequently court martialled in that year but cleared of nearly all charges.
