Queen Elizabeth II discusses romance with Prince Phillip in rare intimate letter
An intimate letter written by Queen Elizabeth II detailing the first time she met Prince Phillip and how they fell in love has come up for sale.
The 2 page letter was written by the then 21 year old Princess Elizabeth to the author Betty Shew in 1947 and reveals how the young couple enjoyed dancing in nightclubs and driving through London in Prince Phillip's MG sports car.
The Queen also recounts how she first met her future husband 'just before the war' at the Royal Naval College in Dartmouth when she was just 13 years old and how he designed her engagement ring.
The letter is to be put up for sale at Chippenham Auction Rooms in Wiltshire on the 23rd of April where it is expected to sell for £1,200.
