Princess Charlotte of Wales memorabilia to auction
A collection of memorabilia relating to the 19th century's own Princess Charlotte is to head to auction with Sworders.
As the only child of George IV Princess Charlotte of Wales was destined to ascend the throne and become Queen of England upon her fathers death.
It was a destiny that would never be realised as the young Princess was to die in childbirth at the age of just 21-leaving the nation in a state of mourning that has drawn comparisons with the death of Princess Diana in 1997.
A selection of mourning jewellery will be up for sale, including a locket which reads; '"Great Britain mourns. Her Princes weep!" as well as furniture used by the Princess and her husband Prince Leopold.
The auction will take place on the 15th of September.
