(1948- ) Prince of Wales. A.L.S., Charles, two pages, 4to, Sandringham, Norfolk, 4th January 1985, to Lady Salisbury (â€˜Dearest Mollieâ€™). The Prince announces â€˜I am feeling rather shame-faced because you got your thank you letter in before mine!â€™ and continues to add that he was very touched that she had put together a â€˜splendid collection of spices and smells, with which I will be able to concoct some powerful mixtures!â€™. The Prince further states that it would be marvellous to meet his correspondent on 17th January (â€˜I shall do my best to arrive early enough for some gardening!â€™) and concludes by reporting â€˜No news yet of the Chesil beach saga. It has probably posed a real dilemma for the Crown handy people!â€™.
