Exemplification of writs concerning a common recovery; 10 October 1586, 1. writ of precipe quod reddat to the sheriff of Middlesex; Peter Legate to render to Griffin Jones and John Jones 14 messuages in St Clement Danes outside the bar of the New Temple, London; 28 May 1575; 2. writ of to the sheriff of Middlesex to put Griffin Jones and John Jones in seisin of 14 messuages in St Clement Danes recovered against Peter Legate by a writ of entry sur disseisin in le post; 22 June 1575; endorsed with the return of Edward Osborne and Wolstan Dix, sheriffs, that they have put Griffin Jones and John Jones in seisin, 4 October 1575, exemplified at the request of Miles Doddinge, gent, vellum document in Latin in decorative gothic documentary hand with capital space left blank and long ascenders to first line, 29 x 45cm, good and complete impression in brown wax of the seal of the Court of Common Pleas depicting Queen Elizabeth enthroned, slightly rubbed, appended bevel tag, 9.5cm diameter. Miles Dodding was probably the owner of the same property in 1586. (1)
