Royal Letters Patent on vellum appointing Sir Arthur Desmond Herne Plummer to be Baron Plummer of St. Marylebone on the 29th May 1981, vellum document with a calligraphic letter & royal armorial heightened in gold, with great seal attached contained in plush lined red leather covered case with hinged lid and clasp, including a related printed official Writ of Summons to Parliament with embossed seal (folded), contained together in fitted plush lined red leather covered case with hinged lid, clasps & carrying handle, Letters Patent approximately 42 x 55.5cm (16.5 x 22 inches), case 45.5 x 59cm (17.75 x 23.25inches). Arthur Desmond Herne Plummer, Baron Plummer of St. Marylebone (1914-2009) was a Conservative politician in London and the longest serving Leader of the Greater London Council. He was knighted in 1971. In 1981 he was given a life peerage as Baron Plummer of St Marylebone in the City of Westminster for which this document relates. (1)
