Lot 1045: [Alfonso Xiii]: (1886-1941) King Of Spain 1886-31. A Curious And Unusual L.S., Moret, Two Pages, Folio, Madrid, 13Th August 1886, To The Bolivian Minister Of Foreign Affairs, In Spanish. The Document Bearing The Heading Of The State Ministry, Is A Letter Sent By Spanish State Minister Moret To His Bolivian Counterpart, Stating 'I Have The Honour To Send You, Together With A Copy, The Royal Letter That H.M. The Queen Regent Has Sent To The President Of The Republic Of Bolivia, Informing Him About The Joyful Birth Of H.M. The King Don Alfonso Xiii, Entrusting You To Make It Reach Its Destiny.' The Letter, Although Announcing A Birth, Is Written On A Black Bordered Mourning Paper Due To King Alfonso Xii Death Few Months Earlier. An Interesting Document Unusually Announcing The Birth Of A King. Irregularly Trimmed To The Left Border, Otherwise Vg King Alfonso Xiii Was Born In May 1886. His Father King Alfonso Xii Died, Seven Months Earlier, In November 1885. This Is The Reason Why The Present Letter Announces The Birth Of A King. Segismundo Moret (1833-1913) Spanish Politician And Man Of Letters. President Of The Council Of Ministers 1905-06, 1906, 1909-10.
