Castle Queen Victoria couldnt afford listed at £1M
An Isle of Wight castle that Queen Victoria loved but couldnt afford has been listed for sale at just £1 Million-the same price as a flat in London.
The castle was frequented by Queen Victoria as a child and as a result she expressed an interest in owning the property after being crowned Queen.
It was then owned by newspaper tycoon Thomas Bell who wanted too high a sum for the castle-and so the then Queen and her husband Prince Albert built Osborne House instead.
Immense Norris Castle, as it is known, was built around 1800 and comes with 225 acres of land and a mile of waterfront.
The catch? It will need millions more to restore the 15 bedrooms, billiard room, kitchens and indoor swimming pool to their former glory.
