1998 Grand National programme signed by 39 jockeys
- A 1998 Grand National programme signed by the 39 jockeys who took part.
The Grand National is one of the world's most famous horse races, and a British cultural institution.
First run in 1839, the handicap steeplechase features 30 fences over a course of 4 miles and 2½ furlongs, and has been described as “the ultimate test of horse and rider”.
A copy of the official programme for the 1998 Martell Grand National Steeplechase, which took place at Aintree on April 4th, 1998.
The programme has been fully signed by each of the 39 riders who took part in the race, with each name signed in black ink alongside their details and racing colours.
Signatures include those of winning jockey Carl Llewellyn, Graham Bradley, Richard Dunwoody, Andrew Thornton, Kenny Whelan, Sean Curran, Richard Johnson and many more.
Programme is in fine condition, with slight scuffing and marks to the cover which do not affect the signatures inside.
Sold together with three original race badges from 2nd to 4th April 1998 at Aintree.
An excellent and highly collectible piece of British horse racing history.
