The 12 Stamps of Christmas Special Offers
For One Week Only: Up to 54% off SG catalogue prices
We are hosting our annual Christmas drinks and canapés this evening where we hope to entertain around 40 of our clients at our offices in Jersey.
I understand Jersey is too far to come for most of our clients.
Some of you literally live at the other side of the world. I should know. I have to pay the postage costs when you order from me!
I would like to share our festive cheer with all our clients.
So, the Christmas party season starts here…
For the next 7 days ONLY, I am offering very generous discounts on 12 of the highest quality rare stamps we have in our stockholding.
On 19 December at 5:30pm, all prices will go back to full price.
That’s plenty time for you to make your purchases.
But, beware, from past experience, I expect the stamps on offer at these discounted prices to be snatched up quickly by canny buyers.
I have deliberately selected stamps from a whole range of price levels to ensure there is something for you, no matter what your budget is so you can treat yourself to an early Christmas gift.
I have also selected stamps from all over the British Commonwealth, just like our clients.
The prices of the stamps, after the Christmas discount is applied, range from £80 to £2,500.
I now present you with your 12 Christmas stamp offers…
1. A stunning watermark variety for under £100!
Ceylon 32 Script watermark, 6c carmine-red, variety watermark inverted, unmounted with full original gum, block of 4.
Unmounted Mint. SG 342w
It defies logic that such an attractive rarity from this popularly collected country is still priced in the SG Commonwealth & Empire stamps catalogue at under £100.
SG Catalogue Value: £95
Christmas Offer Price: £80 (16% OFF)
2. A very visual variety and terribly scarce
South West Africa Postage due. 1923 1½d black and yellow-brown, setting I overprint, left marginal horizontal pair, the left stamp variety 'Afrika' without stop (R6/1), unmounted with full original gum. Scarce.
Dues. SG D8b
Visual varieties, such as this one, are the most coveted amongst collectors of varieties and errors, boasting a very large and passionate collector base.
SG Catalogue Value: £130
Christmas Offer Price: £110 (15% OFF)
3. Perfect condition for less than half catalogue value
Great Britain 1939 10 shilling dark blue. Fine unmounted mint example with full original gum.
A perfect quality example of this popular and attractive King George VI high value stamp issued on 30 October 1939, just after the outbreak of World War II.
SG Catalogue Value: £260
Christmas Offer Price: £120 (54% OFF)
4. Priced at a fraction of its rarity value
Somaliland 1935 Jubilee 1r slate and purple, lower right corner example from vignette plate '2A', showing variety 'Kite and vertical log', brilliant unmounted original gum. The vignette slightly misplaced to right, allowing the 'Kite' to be seen particularly clearly. Total printing only 792 sheets (from plates 2A, 2B, 10).
I consider the SG catalogue value incredibly low for such a rare and visually appealing variety. I would consider putting this one away for my grandchildren.
Unmounted Mint. SG 89k
SG Catalogue Value: £225
Christmas Offer Price: £195 (13% OFF)
5. A fine quality used example of Australia’ most famous stamp
Australia 1915 5s grey and yellow, watermark 5, lightly cancelled by two part strikes of 'WHIM CR(EEK)' circular date stamps with excellent perforations and centring. Scarce and fine.
Used. SG 30
Used examples of the famous “Roo and Map” stamp sell at a large discount to mint examples. Fine quality used examples such as this remain seriously under-valued, in my opinion.
SG Catalogue Value: £350
Christmas Offer Price: £295 (16% OFF)
6. The perfect Christmas gift stamp
Great Britain 1840 1d Black Plate 3. Very fine used four margin example lettered LF, neatly cancelled by a crisp red Maltese Cross.
SG, GB Specialised catalogue number, AS20.
This is not just any penny black but a penny black from a rare printing plate. Plate 3 represented just 7% of the total number of penny blacks printed. It also benefits from the neat cancellation with the famous Maltese Cross.
SG Catalogue Value: £500
Christmas Offer Price: £395 (21% OFF)
7. A stamp that often sells at above SG catalogue value in Canada
Canada 1897 Jubilee $1 lake, original gum. Trivial gum wrinkles and disturbances mentioned for accuracy, but superb appearance with lovely colour and exceptional centring. Very scarce in this quality.
Unmounted Mint. SG 136
A famous stamp issue from Canada to celebrate Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee after 60 years on the throne. Only 24,900 of the $1 stamps were issued making it very scarce, particularly unused, with original gum and in fine condition.
SG Catalogue Value: £550
Christmas Offer Price: £495 (10% OFF)
8. A chance to get in to the hottest area of the stamp market at a discounted price
Indian Convention States Gwalior 1928-36 Mint Set of 16 to 25r, large part original gum. Top value with tiny red mark on reverse of one perforation inconsequential and still a fine and attractive set with very fresh colours. Scarce as a complete set.
A scarce and attractive set of stamps from one of the hottest areas of the stamp market. This set of stamps has increased in price in the SG catalogue by 131% over the past 10 years, but remains at a modest price level in the context of rarity against high prevailing demand.
SG Catalogue Value: £750
Christmas Offer Price: £575 (23% OFF)
9. A classic design from a famous stamp issuing country
British Guiana 1863-76 12c lilac, perf 15, brilliant large part original gum. Extremely scarce in this lovely condition, and showing letters of papermaker's watermark.
Mint. SG 113
A very attractive stamp at an affordable price from the country famous for holding the record for the highest value stamp in the world. The unique British Guiana 1856 1¢ Magenta stamp sold for $9.48 million in 2014.
SG Catalogue Value: £900
Christmas Offer Price: £795 (12% OFF)
10. A rare shade of a most distinctive King George V colonial stamp
Bermuda 1924-32 Script watermark 2s6d grey-black and pale orange-vermilion/grey-blue, from March 1930 printing, very fine original gum. A lovely example of this rare and distinctive shade. Accompanied with British Philatelic Association certificate (2016).
Unmounted Mint. SG 89h
Bermuda is one of the most popularly collected countries in the world with interest from both collectors of the British Commonwealth and buyers from the US. The condition of this stamp is a perfection rarely encountered.
SG Catalogue Value: £2,750
Christmas Offer Price: £2,250 (18% OFF)
11. A perfect example of one of Britain’s most memorable stamps
Great Britain 1902 £1 dull blue green, SG266. A superb unmounted mint with full original gum marginal example. Perfectly centred marginal example printed by De La Rue. A real beauty!
A most distinctive and memorable stamp design, particularly because of its unusual shape and size. A philatelic gem for the “condition connoisseur” from King Edward VII’s reign.
SG Catalogue Value: £3,500
Christmas Offer Price: £2,400 (31% OFF)
12. A prevailing quality against all odds
Hong Kong 1903 set of 15 to $10, watermark CA, original gum, $3 with insignificant rubbing, nevertheless a very fine set with fresh colours. Mostly exceptionally lightly mounted (including $1 to $10). Very scarce in this quality.
Unmounted Mint. SG 62/76
This iconic set of stamps from Hong Kong is rarely ever found in this quality. Most sets coming on the market have condition issues caused by the high humidity climate in that part of the world. As such, this is a very rare opportunity indeed.
SG Catalogue Value: £3,000
Christmas Offer Price: £2,500 (17% OFF)
