Candlish McCleery Ltd deal exclusively in Great Britain Postage Stamps from 1840 to 1970, specialising in the reigns of King George V to King George VI. The company is under the personal management of Ross and Chris Candlish with over 40 years experience in the Stamp Trade and are members of the Philatelic Traders' Society (PTS) and American Stamp Dealers Association (ASDA).
About Candlish McCleery Ltd
Candlish McCleery Ltd was established in 1975 with Ross as a founding director. After leaving Edinburgh in 1970 to pursue a career in stamp dealing, he learned the ropes in one of the then largest dealers in the country, based in Bristol. This gave him the opportunity to handle major collections and meet other knowledgeable dealers and collectors. He was also lucky enough to travel the world representing the company at various international shows.
In 2007 Chris (Ross' son) joined the company after completing his university degree.
Originally with offices in Bristol and now in Worcestershire Candlish McCleery Ltd has operated predominately as a mail-order business dealing in the postage stamps of Great Britain 1840 to 1970 approx.
With a wide range of expert knowledge in Great Britain philately from Penny Blacks to Wilding Booklet panes Candlish McCleery Ltd are more than happy to assist customers with building their collections as well as valuations and selling.
With an emphasis on fine quality and knowledge, Candlish McCleery Ltd has built up a strong reputation especially in the King George V field with one of the few King George V reference collections cross-checked against those of Messrs. Stanley Gibbons Ltd and the Royal Philatelic Society, London.
Candlish McCleery Ltd produce a yearly KGV-KGVI including QEII Stitched Booklets Price list as well as a Monthly Price List with new items and offers from stock (both available free upon request or at their website).
The Monthly Price List includes Great Britain stamps (1840-1970) including examples from the reigns of Queen Victoria, King Edward VII, King George V, King Edward VIII, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II and is the best place to view the most recently acquired stock.
The yearly Price List is a more specialised list which includes all King George V issues (including shades, controls, watermark varieties, booklet panes, booklets), King Edward VIII (definitives, booklet panes and booklets), King George VI (definitives, booklet panes and booklets) and Queen Elizabeth II (pre-decimal stitched booklets).

The Philatelic Review was published by Candlish McCleery Ltd from January 1977 to January 1982 - a total of 21 issues. Full of articles relating to Great Britain philately, the Review included much original research and was generously illustrated throughout.
