Lot 788: Rockingham Marquis Of: (1730-1782) British Prime Minister 1765-66, March - July 1782. An Extremely Rare A.L.S., Rockingham, One Page, 4To, Peterborough House, 20Th February 1765 ('Sunday Noon: 2 O'Clock'), To A Gentleman. Rockingham Explains That He Did Not Know Until 4Pm The Day Before Whether He Would Be Able To Get To Dinner And Therefore Did Not Have The Time To Invite His Correspondent To Join Him, Adding 'I Hope Some Other Saturday To Be More Certain Of My Time'. He Continues 'I Intend To Stay Here Tonight & Will If Possible Return Here Of An Evening For Some Time - Which I Think Will Relieve Me From Some Of The Inconveniences Of My Old Complaint In My Stomach'. In A Postscript Rockingham Also Remarks 'If It Is Not Inconvenient I Should Be Glad You Would Call Here On Your Return To London'. With Blank Integral Leaf.
