Lot 395: Author: You Long Gu, artist ; Title: Original Chinese poster titled "Zhi yuan shi jie ren min de fan di dou zheng!" ["Support the People's anti-imperialist movement across the whole world"]; Place Published: Shanghai, China; Publisher: Shanghai People's Art Publishing House [Shanghai ren min mei shu chu ban she]; Date Published: 1967; Description: Dramatic, vividly colored 30 x 42" poster art of the "internationalist" period of the Cultural Revolution, when the Chinese and their Cuban allies were making inroads into Latin America and Africa. Depicts three figures, a Black man, an Hispanic man, holding a rifle, and an [Asian?] woman, looking hopefully towards the horizon and the future, with a red sun in the background. At a groundbreaking London sale of Chinese Maoist art in October 2012, a copy of this poster brought $780.
