TLS by Herebert Hoover on his Att'y stationairy to Adolph Lewisohn and Sons on Broadway, NY. Dated New York, April 18, 1913, the letter is in refernce to a purchase of 3250 shares for $16,250, and that he was given an extension on the payment which he is now making. It is interesting to note that Adolph Lewisohn was a considerably important business man of the late 19th early 20th century. Lewisohn (May 27, 1849 – August 17, 1938) was a German Jewish immigrant born in Hamburg who became a New York City investment banker, mining magnate, and philanthropist. He is the namesake of the former School of Mines building on the Morningside Heights campus of Columbia University, as well as the former Lewisohn Stadium at the City College of New York.
