Partly-printed DS as president, signed “M. Van Buren,” one page, 8 x 9.75, November 4, 1839. President Van Buren directs the “Acting Secretary of State to affix the Seal of the United States to an Exequatur for Heer Leon Herckenrath, as Consul of the Netherlands for the States of South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia, to reside at Charleston.” In fine condition.
