Uncommon partly-printed vellum DS as president, signed “M. Van Buren,” one page, 11.5 x 14.75, May 12, 1840. Scallop-topped ship’s pass issued for “the Bark Ann Maria, John Carr master or commander…To Pass with her Company Passengers Goods and Merchandize without any hinderance seisure or molestation.” Signed at the conclusion by President Van Buren and countersigned by the acting secretary of state. The white paper seal affixed to the lower left remains fully intact. In fine condition.
