Lot 1217: Castro Cipriano: (1858-1924) President Of Venezuela 1899-1908, Former General. A.L.S., Cipriano Castro, One Page, 4To, N.P. [Caracas], N.D. [1902], To An Unknown Steamship Commandant, In Spanish. The Letter Being Castro'S Specific Orders To The Commandant Of The "Orum" Steamship, Instructing '1º- Set Sail Immediately Bound For Porlamar, Where You Will Take On Board Dr. Mata Illas Together With His Troops.' And Continues '2º- Once Dr. Mata Illas Will Be On Board You Will Immediately Return To Guanta, Unless Dr. Mata Decides To Stop At Cumana Or At Any Other Coast Location, And Once Done, Will Continue To Guanta.' The Letter Is Dated During The "Revolucion Libertadora", 1901-03, Leaded By Banker Martos To Depose President Castro, And Venezuela Suffers A Naval Blockade. Castro Expects Quick Arrival Of Supporting Troops. A Very Small Area Of Paper Loss To The Right Edge Not Affecting The Text Or Signature. Vg.
