Japanese emperor Hirohito surrender issued as digital file
The master recording of the Japanese emperor Hirohito surrendering the second world war has been released as a digital file by the Imperial Household Agency.
The announcement was made on August 15, 1945.
A spokesperson for the agency explained: "We judged it is of great significance to make the major symbolic items related to the end of the war widely known to the public at the timing of the 70th anniversary.”
