Jack Ruby autographed personal bank cheque
A Jack Ruby autographed personal bank cheque is a unique piece of memorabilia offered for sale by the company Paul Fraser Collectibles.
Jack Ruby was a Dallas nightclub owner with alleged connections to organized crime who gained infamy for killing Lee Harvey Oswald.
Just two days after Oswald had been arrested for the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, he was shot in the stomach on live television by Ruby whilst being transferred to the local county jail.
Ruby was immediately arrested, and died of lung cancer four years later in 1967 whilst appealing against his conviction and the death penalty. His supposed links to the mafia have been central to the conspiracy theories surrounding Kennedy’s death ever since, and Ruby has become one of the most famous names in U.S crime history.
The personal bank cheque is made out for the sum of $24.62, and was paid into the Mercantile national Bank in Dallas, Texas on September 24, 1950.
The cheque features Ruby’s handwritten details and his signature in crisp blue ink, and features the bank’s official stamp and date punch.
This unique piece of history is offered for sale by the company Paul Fraser Collectibles, who specialise in rare and historic memorabilia.
It is currently priced at £1,200.
