A Yousuf Karsh autographed photography book is a rare signed book offered for sale by the company Paul Fraser Collectibles.

Background information

Yousuf Karsh is recognized as one of the greatest portrait photographers of all time, with the ability to capture the essence of his subjects in a single shot.

Born in Armenia and raised in Canada, Karsh’s career saw him photograph some of the most iconic figures of the 20th century including Winston Churchill, Muhammad Ali, Audrey Hepburn, John F. Kennedy, Andy Warhol, Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso.

Today his work remains part of some of the world’s greatest photography collections, at institutions such as The National Portrait Gallery, the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Item description

The item is a hardback copy of the 1983 photography book ‘Karsh: a fifty-year retrospective’, which includes 188 of Karsh’s most famous and iconic images.

The book is in perfect condition, with a pristine dust-jacket, and features the photographer’s signature along with an inscription which reads:

"Inscribed for Steve Keyser, with the good wishes of Yousuf Karsh 1985"
