Stolen Stradivarius returned to family of rightful owner
A stolen Stradivarius violin has been returned to the family of its rightful owner.
It was taken from the office of world-renowned virtuoso Roman Totenberg in 1980 and has been missing ever since.
It emerged that it had been taken by Totenberg’s colleague, Philip Johnson. It was discovered after his unsuspecting widow took it to be valued.
His daughter Nina Totenberg said: "Our only sadness is that our father is not here to see this.
"But I think he is somewhere with my mother, celebrating with a shot of vodka."
