Kurt Russell destroyed a 'priceless' 145 year old guitar in Hateful Eight
Director Quentin Tarantino has angered a US guitar museum by smashing their priceless 145 year old Martin guitar in his new film The Hateful Eight.
The Martin Guitar Museum loaned the six string 1870s guitar to the filmaker for use in the film but have now vowed never to loan another guitar to a movie ever again after the incident.
The guitar was smashed by Kurt Russell's character John Ruth who grabs the antique guitar from Daisy Domergue (Jennifer Jason Leigh) and smashes it on a beam.
Mark Ulano, soundmixer on The Hateful Eight, has said that the Martin guitar was smashed 'accidentally' and that it was only supposed to be on camera up to a point before it was swapped out for a replica-something that wasn't 'communicated' to Kurt Russell.
The Martin Museum have said that the guitar is 'beyond fixing' and 'irreplaceable'.
