1840 Guitar Made by Pierre René Lacote at auction
Amazing to see how little the basic design of the guitar has changed over the years- this one was made by Pierre René Lacote in 1840 and aside from the frets which find their way half way down the body of the guitar, it looks like your standard folk acoustic.
On the topic of those frets I can only summise it was for lap steel purposes? Either way, for something from 1840 it's in better condition than some of mine made within the last 10 years! Estimated value is £4,000-6,000 from the auctioneer Brompton's.
