Westwood & McLaren's son to burn his $7M punk memorabilia collection
The son of Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren is to mark the 40th anniversary of punk in the most punk way possible- by burning his entire $7 million punk memorabilia collection.
Agent Provocateur founder Joe Corré has expressed his disgust at the planned Punk London anniversary events later this year which has been given an official blessing by the Queen and will see punk celebrated by institutions such as the Museum of London and the British Library.
''The Queen giving 2016, the Year of Punk, her official blessing is the most frightening thing I’ve ever heard,' he says. 'Talk about alternative and punk culture being appropriated by the mainstream. Rather than a movement for change, punk has become like a museum piece or a tribute act."
Corré hopes that other disgruntled punks will join him in his planned burning in Camden on the 26th of November-the 40th anniversary of Anarchy in the UK.
