Nirvana's Teen Spirit 'most iconic song of all time'
A computer scientist has named Nirvana's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' as the most iconic song of all time following a study.
Dr Mick Grierson of Goldsmiths, University of London, examined 50 iconic songs and the features they shared such as lyrical content, chord variety and the number of beats per minute, to determine which of these songs best exploited these common themes-with Nirvana's biggest hit taking the title.
Second and third place went to John Lennon's 'Imagine' and U2's 'One.'
The research was carried out on behalf of car manufacturer Fiat who wanted a song to use on a new advert for the Fiat 500.
