A selection of 45s and albums from the record collection of Joey Ramone is now up for sale in an online auction.

The collection is just one of more than 40 Ramones lots on offer in RR Auction's Marvels of Modern Music sale, with also includes Joey's personal memorabilia such as instruments, clothing, handwritten notes and lyrics.

Although formed in the maelstrom of the 1970s New York punk scene, the Ramones were equally known for their pop sensibilities as their rampant guitars.

Joey's collection of records, which spans decades and a variety of genres, clearly shows his eclectic musical tastes and is expected to sell for more than $4,000.

Starting in the 1960s, there are classic Beatles tracks such as Love Me Do and  I Want to Hold Your Hand, along with A Little Bit Me, a Little Bit You by The Monkees and Born to Be Wild by Steppenwolf.

From the 1970s, highlights include Lola by The Kinks, You Are the Sunshine of My Life by Stevie Wonder, Go to Hell by Alice Cooper, and Someone Saved My Life Tonight by Elton John.

Standout 80s tunes include Walk This Way by Run DMC and Aerosmith and Red Red Wine by UB40.

Back in 2013, the same auction house sold another selection of records from Joey's extensive collection. Featuring everyone from Cheap Trick to Barbra Streisand, David Bowie to David Essex, and even a little Luciano Pavarotti, the collection of singles fetched $6,543.

Another standout lot from the collection is Joey's U.S passport, signed with his real name 'Jeff Hyman', and estimated at $10,000+.

Dating from 1981 through to 1986, the passport bears visa stamps from around the world, including those from Denmark, Scotland, and France. During this period The Ramones certainly earned their reputation as one of music's hardest working bands, recording four albums and playing an estimated 500 shows across thirteen countries.

The passport Joey replaced it with in 1986 also previously sold at RR Auction in 2013, where it was snapped up by a fan for more than $12,000.

Further notable lots from the sale include Joey's leather jacket and pants, his personal guitar, his T-shirts, studded glove, prescription sunglasses and a series of handwritten notes.

The RR Auction Marvels of Modern Music sale begins on February 9, and runs online until February 16.
