Eric Clapton's Fender Strat raises $45,000 to help fellow guitarist
Eric Clapton has auctioned off one of his tour used Fender Stratocasters-raising $45,000 to help pay the medical bills of a fellow guitarist.
The guitar was used by Clapton during last years Slowhand at 70 tour and was sold through the auction house Heritage Auctions. Proceeds from the sale are to go towards helping former Asleep at the Wheel guitarist Johnny Nicholas pay off his late wife Brenda's medical bills, who sadly lost her battle with leukemia recently.
The Masterbuilt Stratocaster was built for Clapton in 2014 by Todd Krause and is in mint condition.
A small portion of the proceeds will also go toward supporting leukemia research.
