Donruss Elvis Presley trading cards
Donruss Elvis Presley trading cards are a series of trading cards featuring Elvis Presley, produced by Donruss in 1978.
Elvis Presley has featured in a number of trading card sets over the years, starting in 1956 with the Topps set. Other early sets include the 'TV Guide Elvis Collection’ in 1956 and the ‘A&BC Elvis Presley Series Gum Cards’ from 1959.
Later sets include the ‘Monty Gum Cards set’ from 1978, the rare ‘Lobby Elvis Presley set’ from 1981 and the extensive 1992 River group ‘cards of His Life’ set.
Donruss 1978 Elvis Presley trading cards series
The Donruss Elvis Presley cards were sold with sticks of Elvis bubblegum,and were released in 1978. The set contained 66 cards, each with a colour or black and white photograph of Elvis taken from sources such as live performances or scenes from his films. In addition, the reverse of each card features an ‘Elvis fact’, such as:
“Whist in the service he took a cut in pay from $100,000 to $78 a month.”
How much are Donruss Elvis Presley trading cards worth?
The 1978 Donruss cards are not as rare or sought after as the earlier sets such as the Topps 1956 set, but they are still popular with many collectors.
A full set of all 66 cards in mint condition can be found for between $20 and $40 on sites such as eBay. Original unopened packs of the bubblegum containing cards can sell for up to $5.
