Bono Collectibles And Memorabilia

Bono Collectibles And Memorabilia are items relating to Bono, lead singer of the Irish rock band U2.

Brief history/biography

Paul David "Bono" Hewson was born on May 10th, 1960, and is best known as being the lead singer of the award-winning Irish band, U2. Bono's nickname is derived from "Bono Vox," the Latin phrase for "good voice."

Bono writes the lyrics for the majority of U2's songs, most of which touch on various different social, religious and political themes. (Bono has been a devout Christian since he was 10 years old).

Bono has also collaborated with the likes of Willie Nelson, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Wyclef Jean and Bruce Springsteen, to name a few, and he has also contributed his talents to the film and literature industry as well.

Some of his most notable contributions to date include composing and performing the music for The Million Dollar Hotel (2000), which he also helped co-write. He also made an appearance in the 2007 film Across the Universe and sang the vocals for "I Am the Walrus" and "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" which were both included on the film's soundtrack.

But most importantly, Bono has become known around the world as a international "crusader" for humanitarian causes, third world debt relief and the fight against AIDS in Africa. Because of these efforts, Bono has become a well-respected humanitarian not only among his fans, but politicians and global statesmen as well. (In 2002 he accompanied former US Treasury Secretary Paul H. O'Neill on a four-country tour around Africa).

Bono was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize three times and was also granted an honorary knighthood by Queen Elizabeth II in 2007. Time magazine also named him as the "Person of the Year" in 2005.
