The Wicked Witch of the West Crystal Ball from The Wizard of Oz
The Wicked Witch of the West Crystal Ball from The Wizard of Oz is a film prop used in the 1939 film, The Wizard of Oz.
It is a notable item of movie memorabilia.
In the film, the crystal ball was used by the Wicked Witch of the West to keep track of Dorothy, the tinman, the lion and the scarecrow as they travelled along the yellow brick road.
Prior to its appearance in The Wizard of Oz, the crystal ball appeared in The Mask of Fu Manchu (1932) and Chandu the Magician (1932).
The ball was identified by Wizard of Oz experts who found that bubbles and blemishes on the ball corresponded with those which appeared on screen.
The crystal ball appeared on the market for the first time in May 2010 when it was sold for $126,500 at a Profiles in History Disney movie memorabilia auction.
