Television Academy blocks auction of Sam Simon's Emmy awards
The Television Academy has blocked the sale of the late Simpsons co creator Sam Simon's nine Emmy awards, which were due to auction for charity.
Simon's estate had planned on auctioning the awards to raise money for the Sam Simon Charitable Giving Foundation, but the Academy blocked the sale claiming that any awards won must be returned to the Academy, where they will hold it in storage 'in memory of the recipient'.
The auction will still go ahead without the awards, offering Simon's comic book collection, Pablo Picasso lithographs and boxing memorabilia among other items.
