Ray Harryhausen memorabilia collection to auction
A treasure trove of memorabilia from the personal collection of legendary special effects pioneer Ray Harryhausen, who passed away in 2013, is heading to auction this month.
Harryhausen revolutionized special effects with his stop motion work on classics such as Jason and the Argonauts, Clash of the Titans and Mysterious Island-creating a bevy of realistic mythical beasts in an age before CGI.
Harryhausen's work inspired a generation of filmmakers from Steven Spielberg to George Lucas and later this month, a selection of that work will be up for grabs at John Nicholson’s Auctioneers.
The auction includes early sketches, posters, super 8 cameras original film memorabilia as well as gifts from some of the filmmakers he inspired.
The auction takes place on the 17th of October.
