Primal Screen Therapy: Paint Your Wagon

Clint Eastwood and Lee Marvin were two of the biggest names in Hollywood when Paint Your Wagon rolled into town. Best known for their roles in westerns it seemed only logical to give them the starring roles. Apparently they forgot to mention that it was a musical. Clint Eastwood is at his best when he's killing or frowning at people, Lee Marvin is at his best when he doesn't have to move around much. They compromised by having Clint Eastwood not doing anything and Lee Marvin rambling incoherently. The highlight of the film is Marvin's rendition of Wandering Star, which is probably the sole reason why they never released a singalong version of the movie.
