Natalie Wood memorabilia to sell at Bonhams New York auction
A forthcoming Bonhams sale in New York will feature a large collection of memorabilia from the life and career of actress Natalie Wood.
Treasures of the Dream Factory, held in conjunction with Turner Classic Movies (TCM), will feature items from Wood's estate including personal mementos, jewellery, movie scripts and awards.
"We are proud to have been selected to offer this collection of 66 lots from the Estate of Natalie Wood. She was a true screen icon, and we anticipate great interest from her many fans," said Bonhams' Vice President and Director of Entertainment Memorabilia Catherine Williamson.
Wood began her career as a child star in Hollywood, and early memorabilia will include her script for the classic 1947 Christmas movie Miracle on 34th St, estimated at $3,000-$5,000.
Wood's accolades will include her Academy Award nominations for Rebel Without a Cause in 1955, and Splendour in the Grass in 1961, each estimated at $1,500-$2,000, along with her 1957 'International Stardom' Golden Globe award estimated at $10,000-$15,000.
The sale will also offer further items from Wood's famous films including West Side Story, Gypsy, Love with the Proper Stranger, and Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice.
"The birth of my daughter three years ago made me realise the importance of perpetuating my mother's legacy for her and the generations to come," said Wood's daughter, actress Natasha Gregson Wagner.
"Much of my mother's memorabilia has been in storage since 1982, and my family and I are pleased to release some of these items to the public so that they may also have a piece of her talent, her beauty and her great spirit."
Treasures from the Dream factory takes place on Monday November 23.
