A major new interactive Hunger Games exhibition is now open in New York, Times Square.

The franchise of best-selling books and blockbuster films has become a global phenomenon with millions of fans around the world, and now those fans have the chance to step inside the world as recreated on the silver screen.

The exhibition will feature hundreds of authentic screen-used costumes and props, along with detailed set recreations and numerous high-tech interactive displays.

Visitors will be able to follow the story of Katniss Everdeen through seven themed galleries, including District 12, Tribute Train, The Capitol, Making the Games, District 13, Fan Gallery and Katniss's Journey.

Iconic costumes and props from the film series will include Katniss's bow, her Mockingjay dress and armour, Cinna's sketchbook, the Girl on Fire dress and the Mockingjay pin. Fans will also be able to see the Victory Parade chariot, a recreation of the Hall of Justice set, President Snow's balcony, and explore the different districts of Panem through an interactive map.

"The Hunger Games: The Exhibition offers visitors an unparalleled experience and brings them closer to the world of Panem," said Jenefer Brown, Lionsgate Senior Vice President of Location Based Entertainment.  "Through a dynamic series of interactives, never before seen content, and immersive environments, guests will connect to The Hunger Games in a one-of-kind experience."

"The application of the film's science, technology, and real world problem solving also translate to a valuable educational experience that will resonate with school groups and visitors alike."

The Hunger Games: The Exhibition is now open at Discovery Times Square and runs until January 3, 2016. The show will then move to San Francisco's Palace of Fine Arts in February 2016, before continuing on a global tour.
