Lot 866: Greta Garbo's personally-owned and -worn elegant dark brown three-button ranch mink coat by Fredrica, with a brown lining embroidered inside the right breast with the monogram "G." Includes a Chase Manhattan Bank check, 6.25 x 2.75, filled out in type and signed by Garbo, "Greta Garbo," payable to Fredrica for $37.10, December 13, 1969. Also includes one of Garbo's invoices from Fredrica, November 19, 1970, for storage and cleaning of a "black seal coat" and "wild mink coat," as well as two different storage receipts from Revillon for her "Ranch Mink Coat Three Buttons Brown Lining Fredrica Label G Monogram," dated 1973 and 1974. Mink coat in fine condition, with two easily repairable six-inch separations to inner seams; although the storage receipts mention a Fredrica label, no tags or labels remain intact. Related ephemera in overall fine condition, with a bank stamp affecting a single letter of Garbo's signature on the check. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from the Garbo's great-niece, noting, "Greta Garbo enjoyed an extensive wardrobe of fur coats. Garbo's Nordic heritage celebrated the luxurious warmth of fur. Garbo wore this mink coat during her legendary walks in New York City." Also accompanied by an image of Garbo wearing this coat. A well-documented, luxurious mink coat directly from the style icon's personal wardrobe, this is a tremendously desirable piece.
