Bella Swan's engagement ring rare highlight in Twilight auction
An auction of memorabilia from blockbuster film series Twilight has underwhelmed.
While an engagement ring belonging to Kristen Stewart's character Bella Swan trebled its $5,000 valuation to make $16,800, many other lots went unsold.
That included a motorcycle ridden by Taylor Lautner's character Jacob Black, which had a $7,000 estimate, and a Bella-worn party costume valued at $3,000.
Why did bids fail to match the pre-auction media interest?
Twilight fans are generally teenage girls - or young women who were teenagers when the first film came out in 2008. Neither demographic has an abundance of money.
Give it 10 years, when Twilight fans are all wage earning adults, and you may see stronger prices.
The five-film series achieved $3 billion – making it one of the biggest-selling franchises in recent movie history.
