5. Liesl character sketch

This original costume design by Dorothy Jeakins for the character of Liesl sold for $3,000 at Profiles in History in 2014. Jeakins' painstakingly researched costumes are key to the film's enduring appeal.  This particular lot illustrates the dress worn during the song "You are Sixteen". 

4. Poster

Image: Profiles in History This original three-sheet poster for the 1965 premiere run achieved $6,000 when it crossed the block at Profiles in History in 2011. 

3. Von Trapp children costumes 

Image: Profiles in History These costumes can be seen in the sequence where Maria fashions the Von Trapp children a set of colourful clothing from curtains.  They were worn by Debbie Turner (who played Marta) and Kym Karath (Gretl) and realised a combined total of $35,000 at Profiles in History in 2011. 

2. Maria dress

Image: Profiles in History Maria wears this dress while returning to the castle from the abbey. It is also worn during a second rendition of the song My Favourite Things.  It sold for $45,000 at Profiles in History in 2011.

1. Von Trapp costumes 

Image: Profiles in History This major collection of costumes featured the costume worn by Christopher Plummer (Captain Von Trapp) during the songs Edelweiss and So Long, Farewell.  It also included five costumes worn by the Von Trapp children during the same songs, along with assorted others. It made $150,000 at Profiles in History in 2013.
