30th anniversary Goonies festival hits Astoria this June
The sleepy town of Astoria in Oregon is planning on celebrating the 30th anniversary of the cult 80's classic The Goonies with a 4 day festival taking place from the 4th-7th of June.
Astoria provided the backdrop to the 1985 film and has long been a place of pilgrimage for Goonies fans but it is only after the town celebrated the films 20th anniversary in 2005 with a cast reunion that the number of visitors steadily increased.
Sandi Preston bought the famous 'Goondocks' house back in 2001 when it was facing forclosure and now regularly has as many as 1,000 people a day paying a visit to her famous home.
This year festival attendees can enjoy Goonie goings on such as costumed quote-a-long film screenings, a trivia night and the now sold out 'Sailing With Sloth'- a river cruise with Randell Widner, who was John Matuszak's stunt double for the film.
