Greek art auction at Bonhams Yiannis Tsarouchis drew much of his inspiration from the working class youth of his home town, the Athenian port of Piraeus

Tsarouchis is regarded as one of the most important Greek painters of the 20th century: in elevating his working class models into symbols of the modern Greek spirit, he became known as both a painter of the people and an important classical artist.

Autumn features the figure of Dominic - an allegorical representation of the season - clasping a glass of wine.He isbordered by symbols of fruitfulness, including grapes and peaches.

A Tsarouchis canvas, featuring the artist in his study with a model and a helmet, brought 97,000 ($147,115) to Sotheby's London in October 2001.

According to Knight Frank's 2013 Wealth Report, fine art grew in value at a rate of 199% between 2002 and 2012.
