Winston Churchill's Morris Oxford sees $77,000 in Scotland

Winston Churchill's very British Morris Oxford joins a Yorkshire classic car collection

A Yorkshire businessman will add Winston Churchill's Morris Oxford to his classic car collection following an auction in Perthshire, Scotland on March 9.

Winston Churchill Morris Oxford Morris' Oxford series ran from 1913 to 1971. This example, not Churchill's but very similar, is the 1959 Series V Saloon

The classic British-made car started at 35,000, and was eventually secured by the Yorkshire collector at 51,000 ($77,075). The 1964 model was registered to Churchill's name from new, and was the last private car the wartime leader ever owned.

In October 2012, a Series 1 Land Rover also owned by Churchill auctioned for 129,000 ($206,933). It seems the patriotic prime minister had a penchant for only the most quintessentially British motors.
