Willie Mosconi pool cues
Willie Mosconi pool cues are collectible vintage pool cues once used by famed pool player Willie Mosconi (1913 – 1993).
“Vintage” refers to pieces manufactured within the last 100 years and can include items made as recently as the 1980s.
Mosconi used a number of tailor-made Balabushka cues during his career. This make became synonymous with Mosconi. The majority remain within the family, although occasional specimens appear at auction.
Balabushka cues were produced by Russian-born American George Balabushka. He made around 1,200 cues and is widely considered the leading cue producer of all time.
They often feature ebony butts and are decorated with mother of pearl and diamonds.
Philadelphia-born Mosconi won 15 "straight-pool" world championships in a row between 1941 and 1957.
Mosconi’s name has been carried on in pool circles through the Mosconi Cup, a competition between Europe and the US that has taken place annually since 1994.
How much are Willie Mosconi pool cues worth?
A Willie Mosconi-used Balabushka cue sold for $80,000 at a Hunt Auctions sale in May 2011.
