A piece of wedding cake from Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding last year is coming to auction in the US.

The Fiona Cairns-designed fruit cake will arrive at the November 9-10 auction complete with its red presentation box.

William and Kate wedding cakeThe world record for a slice of cake from the wedding stands at 1,917

It was a gift from the couple to the British Submariners, for whom William is commodore in chief.

The auction house has set a high end estimate of $800 for the piece, a valuation that we believe to be extremely conservative.

The record for a slice of cake from the wedding is 1,917 ($3,000), setby our sister company PFC Auctions earlier this year.

That same auction also saw a piece of cake from Charles and Diana's wedding sell for 1,756 ($2,800) - a new world record for a slice from the 1981 nuptials.

Bidders will have the opportunity to own another of these slices at the auction. It has been given a $2,000 estimate.
