Vintage Exit Signs are original signs used to mark the exits of a building.

Brief history and description

Vintage exit signs can come in a variety of different styles, such as glow-in-the-dark exit signs, white and red exit signs, dark blue exit signs, exit signs with glass cover shades, and much more.

Some of the earliest styles of exit signs were generated by either metal or an incandescent light bulb, while some contained a white glass cover with "EXIT" written in red writing. Some time later, exit signs were transformed so that they were lit by red-tinted globes in order for them to be seen more clearly in case of a fire emergency.

Guide for collectors

Vintage exit signs which were once displayed in notable or famous buildings for long periods of time are considered to be the most rare and valuable.

Restoring of a vintage exit sign is recommended, but only if there is noticeable damage. However, restoring a vintage exit sign may decrease its value.
