Veteran 1903 Clement Talbot up 35% at Bonhams

The 1903 Clement Talbot, a veteran of the London to Brighton Run, made $966,500

A teak-bodied 1903 Clement Talbot has sold at the top of Bonhams' London to Brighton Run Sale, which was held on November 1 in London.

Thevehicle in questionis a veteran of the famed rally, which is the world's longest running motoring celebration. Registered for 2013's event and in fantastic condition, it sold for 606,300 ($966,654) - a 34.7% increase on its 450,000 high estimate.

When first produced in 1903, the car was a state of the art model, boasting four cylinders andproducing2,714cc. It was delivered new to entrepreneur Julius Drewe, founder of the UK'sHome and Colonial Stores, and has spent much of its life in the hands of the family of early restoration expert Stanley Sears.
