Usain Bolt Nikon camera selling for $6,100 on eBay
The Nikon camera which Usain Bolt used after his gold medal win is being sold for charity
The Nikon camera which Usain Bolt seized from a photographer after his outstanding 200m win is currently being sold on eBay.
A future career for the Jamaican sprinter? He'd certainly be able to keep up
The Jamaican star grabbed the camera following his highly anticipated win at the London 2012 Olympics, using it to take snaps of his adoring fans as well as the photographers and his teammates. These famous photographs have since appeared on websites across the world.
The camera belonged to Jimmy Wixtrom, a photographer working with the Swedish newspaper Sportbladet. Wixtrom attests to the camera's authenticity, mentioning in the auction description: "After he was done with taking photos, Bolt carved his name on the camera with a screwdriver - and thus made it unique."
PFC would love to have seen Wixtrom's face when Bolt started the inscription
Currently selling for $6,100, the Nikon D4 - which normally costs around $7,500 - will be sold in a bid to raise money for the Swedish Cancer Society and Bolt's own education charity in Jamaica. Close members of Wixtrom's family have recently been affected by cancer and the sale is the first of many projects that he hopes will raise money for research.
The sale will end on October10 and has received13 bids at the time of writing.
