Tracey Emin artwork selling in anonymous art auction

A Tracey Emin original artwork is selling for less than $200, but which one is it?

Art collectors are being invited to pick up a bargain artwork by Tracey Emin or David Hockney at an online auction.

Yet there's a snag. For they will first have to spot the two pieces from the 600 other anonymous works donated by members of the public, as well asprominent figuresnot noted for their artistic ability.

The postcard-sized works are on display in East Sussex, UK until October 20, with bids on the items accepted on eBay until October 21.

All proceeds from the Big Art Secret will go to St Wilfrid's Hospice in Eastbourne. Among the 600 are pieces offered by Prime Minister David Cameron and novelist Jilly Cooper.

"I first read a newspaper article about a secret auction where someone bought an Emin for less than 100 and sold it subsequently for 16,000," St Wilfrid's ambassador Charles Grimaldi told the BBC.

"I thought, that's interesting, and decided to try to do something for St Wilfrid's."

BBC broadcaster David Dimbleby, a supporter of the charity, added: "When the idea came along I wrote to Tracey Emin and David Hockney and to my astonishment - because they get put upon all the time - they both gave things.

"You can bid for a Hockney or an Emin and get it for a knock-down price. The names are all on the back but you are not allowed to look."

The record for Emin is the $200,000 achieved by her I promise to love you, alight installation at Sotheby's New York in 2010.

The maximum bid for any of the artworks stands at 101 ($162). We will reveal which works were produced by bona fide figures of the art world next week.
