Tom Harris Auctions are a family-based auctioneer company, specializing in Antiques and Decorative arts, as well as high-end collectables.

History

Tom Harris Auctions is a family business, branching off Gene Harris Auctions which was founded in 1950. The business became Tom Harris Auctions in 1995. Before he was even a teenager, Tom Harris started working at auctions with his father, Gene Harris. He later attended the Missouri Auction School to become an auctioneer and has been an auctioneer for over 30 years.

In 2003, Tom Harris bought the building belonging to his father in Marshalltown, Iowa and continued the Tom Harris Auctions service.

Notable sales

In 2010, Tom Harris’ top selling item in the Clocks and Watches Department was a 150th Anniversary Le CoultreAtmos Dome Clock that sold for $3300.00. Other notable sales include:

• A Slate &Spelter French Statue Clock sold for $1760.00
• A New Haven C.F. Sauer's Co. Wall Clock auctioned off for $1534.00
• A Gran Sonnerie 3 Weight Vienna Regulator for $1375.00

In 2009, the top selling clock and watch item auctioned by Tom Harris Auctions was a Waltham Riverside Maximus 23J 18K Pocket Watch sold for $2090.00.

In 2010, the top seller aside from the clock and watch department was a Carved Ivory Scenic Wrist Rest with Flowers, which sold for $767.00. In 2009, a Signed Curtis Aphrodite in Water Picture went for $5500.00; and a Clelland& Barclay Concierge Phone Stand reached an even higher price tag of $5750.00; and antique Oak Straight Back Chair with a Pierced Back fetched $4720.00; and an Austrian/American Bronze Coffin with a Nude Inside went for $3850.00.
