Football fans will have the chance to bid on a rare England cap presented to legend Sir Tom Finney in Graham Budd Auctions' May 22-23 Sporting Memorabilia sale in London.

The cap, valued at just 2,500-3,500 ($4,237-5,933), was won by Finney for his efforts against Argentina at Wembley in 1951.

Aged 29, Finney helped England come from behind to secure a 2-1 win, with Stan Mortensen and Jackie Milburn scoringin the dying minutes of the game.

"In this match, England wore a red shirt for the very first time because England's normal white shirt was too close in resemblance to the pale blue and white stripes of the visitors, who had travelled with no alternative strip," Graham Budd told the Lancashire Evening Post.

Finney's classic England shirt was worn against Switzerland in a 3-0 victory

Also appearing is one of Finney's shirts, holding an identical estimate. A long-sleeved white Number 11 with button-up collar, it was worn against Switzerland in 1952, a game which England won 3-0.

Sir Tom Finney was one of England's greatest wingers, and is famed for his loyalty to league club Preston North End. He died, aged 91, in February this year.

While rare, Finney's memorabilia is far from the most valuable football memorabilia in the sale. An FA Cup Final programme from 1901 - which saw Sheffield United pitted against Tottenham Hotspur at The Crystal Palace - is valued at 18,000-22,000 ($30,500-37,293).

Paul Fraser Collectibles has an exceptional collection of football memorabilia for sale, including items from England's 1966 World Cup win.
