Two copies of Thomas Talbot Bury's Six Coloured Views made $12,000

Thomas Talbot Bury's Six Coloured Views on the Liverpool and Manchester Railway and Six Coloured Views on the London and Birmingham Railway have sold as a single lot at Dreweatts and Bloomsbury.

Bury railwayanaBury produced the detailed views of British railway lines during the mid 19th century

They realised a total of 7,000 ($11,880) at the railwayana auction in London on June 12 - up 40% on a 5,000 ($8,486) estimate.

Both books date to the mid-19th century and offer fascinating views of the two lines. They were described as being in particularly good condition, marred only by some light spotting, and are exceptionally rare.
